Scandinavian Sport Studies Forum (SSSF) aims to fill a void in the Scandinavian sport studies landscape the absence of peer reviewed academic journals within the field. Its aspirations, however, go beyond the borders of Scandinavia, as it will publish articles in English as well as in Danish, Norwegian and Swedish, and it invites prospective contributors from across the globe.
The scope of the journal is similarly wide. The study of sports in all academic disciplines within social science and humanities is of interest, e.g. sociology, psychology, pedagogy, economy, law, media studies, ethnology, philosophy, history, cultural studies, gender studies, leisure studies, and others.
The overarching purposes of SSSF are
- to further research and the development of knowledge in the field by publishing theoretical and empirical articles of the highest academic standards;
- to offer a platform for creative cross-disciplinary conjunctions;
- to bring Scandinavian sport studies to an international audience, and international sport studies to the Scandinavian sport study community; and
- to reach these purposes by employing the new academic form for distribution of scientific knowledge, known as open access.
